Octopi (Novel)

AR

“Octopi" (Read: Octo-Pie) tells the story of Tamadhur, who finds herself in a world ravaged by an artificial intelligence that has rebelled against human control, and is destroying human cities after seizing their military robots and reprogramming them for its own interests. Consequently, humans are forced to resort to ancient Bedouin methods of migration and find safe havens away from technology.

In this world, numerous human groups have formed, each establishing different laws for survival. Some are women's communities hidden in the winding caves of the mountains, strictly prohibiting the entry of men, while other male communities thrive by robbing travelers and scavenging through the ruins of destroyed cities.

The novel explores the fundamental differences in survival strategies between women and men, while highlighting their limitations when excluding the other. It raises questions about the competence of the AI’s we delegate our daily tasks to, and the dire consequences that may arise if we do not supervise their development closely.

“Akhabeet” employs a collagic storytelling technique to present various voices, and offer diverse media for the reader to trace the series of events and explore the world of "Akhabeet." It skillfully breaks the monotony by following multiple timelines that reveal the characters' motivations and dimensions.
